◆ Our verdict

The Rega Planar 6 sits confidently in the upper-mid tier of Rega's turntable lineup, delivering a genuinely audiophile-grade listening experience through clever lightweight engineering rather than brute mass. Paired with the included TT-PSU and a quality cartridge like the Ania, it offers exceptional pace, rhythm, and detail retrieval that punches above its price point. It's not the most flexible or feature-laden deck, but for vinyl purists seeking a 'set it and forget it' turntable built on decades of refined design philosophy, the Planar 6 is a standout choice.

A genuine step up from the Planar 3

I upgraded from a Planar 3 and the difference in soundstage and low-end control is immediately noticeable. The TT-PSU makes speed changes effortless and the whole package feels more refined without being fussy.

Detail retrieval is stunning

Vocals and acoustic instruments sound incredibly lifelike. The lightweight platter and plinth design really do make a difference — bass is tighter and more controlled than I expected from something so minimal in appearance.

Great deck, just needs a good phono stage

Sound quality is fantastic once paired with a decent external phono preamp. My only gripe is that Rega doesn't include one, so factor that into your budget if you're starting from scratch.

Beautifully simple, sonically superb

I appreciate that Rega doesn't over-engineer this thing. It's plug-and-play once assembled, and the Ania cartridge pairing is a match made in heaven. Highly recommend for anyone serious about vinyl.

Excellent but pricier than expected with upgrades

The turntable itself is fantastic, but once you factor in a good cartridge, phono stage, and cables, the total cost climbs quickly. Worth it for the sound quality, but budget accordingly.
