◆ Our verdict

The Rega Planar 3 remains a benchmark in the sub-$1000 turntable category, offering a rigid, low-mass design that translates into fast, articulate, and musically engaging playback. Its simplicity is a strength rather than a limitation, encouraging focus on the music over fiddly adjustments. For vinyl enthusiasts seeking a serious upgrade from entry-level decks without venturing into high-end pricing, the P3 continues to be a reference point nearly every reviewer measures other turntables against.

What we didn’t

  • Limited counterweight adjustability compared to high-end arms

Finally upgraded and it was worth it

Coming from a budget Audio-Technica, the difference in speed stability and clarity is night and day. The RB330 arm tracks beautifully and the whole package feels engineered, not assembled.

Great sound, wish it had auto speed change

Sonically this turntable is superb—detailed mids and tight bass. My only gripe is manually swapping the belt for 45s; I ended up buying the TT PSU to solve it.

Rega does it again

This is my second Rega deck and the P3 continues their tradition of understated design paired with excellent engineering. Placement on a solid shelf is a must, but once dialed in, it's phenomenal.

Excellent value, needs a good phono stage

Paired with a decent external phono preamp, this turntable really shines. Just remember it doesn't come with one built in, which surprised a few of my friends new to vinyl.
